Der Lancet Countdown (LC) Europe ist eine interdisziplinäre, internationale Forschungskooperation, die anhand von 41 Indikatoren die Auswirkungen des fortschreitenden Klimawandels auf die Gesundheit in Europa untersucht - und die politischen Antworten darauf. Am 13. Mai 2024 wird der zweite Bericht mit den neuesten Forschungsergebnisse des LC Europe im Fachjournal Lancet Public Health veröffentlicht.
Die Universität Heidelberg ist Teil der LC Europe Forschungskooperation und lädt gemeinsam mit der Deutschen Allianz Klimawandel und Gesundheit (KLUG e.V.) und dem Centre for Planetary Health Policy (CPHP) zu einer Launchveranstaltung ein, auf der der neue Bericht vorgestellt wird. Gemeinsam mit Expert:innen aus Politik, Wissenschaft, Praxis und Zivilgesellschaft werden die zentralen wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisse des aktuellen Berichts präsentiert und in den lokalen Kontext eingeordnet.

The Lancet Countdown (LC) Europe is an international, interdisciplinary research initiative aimed at developing open, transparent, and rigorous indicators to track the effects of climate change on population health. Alongside monitoring the health impacts of climate change the adaptation and mitigation actions taken, economic and financial aspects, public and political engagements across Europe are followed. This year, the second LC Europe report will be published in the prestigious Lancet Public Health Journal on May 13th, 2024.
In light of this, the German researchers contributing to the LC Europe report at Heidelberg University, along with KLUG and the Centre for Planetary Health, are organizing a local launch event in the heart of Heidelberg. The event will bring together local politicians, civil society representatives, and experts from national agencies to discuss the implications of the report for Germany and the actions being taken locally to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
The event is open to everyone, either in person or online. The event will end with refreshments and the possibility to meet the researcher contributing to the LC Europe Report and expert panelists.
